about

True to its name, ‘LO-FI' was recorded on a sunny afternoon by Calum Newton (Candy), in guitarist Matt’s bedroom. On a saccharine indie pop backdrop, the song delves into seasonal depression, second-hand clothes, finger-biting and the ache of adolescent self-awareness. Armed with the superpower of cutting to the core of youthful idealism and angst, and conjuring instantly relatable, catchy pop, Lofi is a manifesto of the shimmering loneliness of the internet generation - the realisation that no matter how hard we try to fill the void, we are all alone in our own brains, and that’s ok.

'I was sick of writing songs about how other people had affected me, so I tried writing a song that was just about living in my own brain.’ - Tamara

lyrics

too many daisy chains in my brain
i’m getting lost so far away in space
i survived the winter
now it’s pretty sunny
the way the seasons always change my mood is always funny
my emotions tend to get displaced

three types of sugar in my coffee
i think it’s gonna rot my teeth so sweet
i forgot the address
someone else’s slip dress
im open with my feelings but sometimes they’re hard to address
now this heat is causing me weird dreams

how am i feeling
how am i feeling

feeling a bit lofi lofi
my brain is just me myself and i
feeling a bit angsty and sad
it’s low resolution in my head

four fingers on my hand are bitten
don’t wanna be an amputee so i’ll bleed
images on my brain
touching it like kisses
my intrusive thoughts are gonna tear me into pieces
ask me to stay i’ll never leave

i dont know
where to go
i dont know
cause i'm so low
